Best Public Policy Essay on Environment and Society
I was awarded in April 2014.

Awarded by the Roanoke College Henry Fowler Public Policy Student Competition. I wrote a literature research paper describing the causal mechanisms and proposed solutions to the poor sanitation and hygiene conditions in urban slums, using Kibera slum, located in Nairobi, Kenya, as a prototype.

Knowledge from this research work led to the development of a community based project aimed at orchestrating a collaborative leadership between existing community based organizations, the government, and the inhabitants of Kibera slums to pave the way for a circular economy in which Kibera’s most formidable problems become assets for growth and development.
